Drum tech for Broadway production of David Byrne’s American Utopia (August 2021-April 2022)
Executed upkeep and repair for 70+ instruments required for six percussionists.
Carried out daily tuning and maintenance of instruments and mobile harnesses.
Created, improved, and fabricated mounting devices, accessories, and transport methods for instruments.
Kept meticulous inventory and maintained rolling stock of replacement and backup supplies, including budgeting, ordering, and sourcing drum heads, spare parts, stick/mallets, and other obscure instruments and parts.
Created and maintained equipment tracking sheets and photographic instrument databases.
Ran a precisely choreographed backstage performance track preparing, setting, tuning, and troubleshooting instruments; facilitating handoffs, switches, curtain handling, and providing safety and moral support for performers.
Assisted with preparation, training, and rehearsal for understudy performers.
Fully trained and implemented substitute techs for my own track.
Worked in close collaboration with stage management, choreographers, audio, and house props department to ensure clear communication and maintain efficient flow on and off stage.
Coordinated transport and remote usage of equipment and instruments for television performances and award shows.
